Victoria Dock was built in the 1870’s to provide additional harbour facilities for the export of Slate from Caernarfon. The land beside the dock housed an abattoir and warehousing and during the latter part of the 20th century oil storage tanks.
In more recent years it became derelict and an ambitious plan was made with the support of the Welsh government, as part of the regeneration of the area, to create a mixed development of offices, hotels, residential units and shops right beside the Menai straits.
